“Mother Teresa” as she is known, was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Macedonia, on August 27, 1910. At the age of eighteen she took her initial vows as a nun and adopted the name Teresa. Blessed Teresa's work has been recognized and acclaimed throughout the world for her care and devotion to the poor.
